The Lessons of Space

This weekend I took 4 days off of social media. It gave me space to "see the forest through the trees" and clarity I've been seeking for a few months.

In just 4 short days I had trauma surface to finally make peace with, clarity develop on my next steps forward in business, the deepest sleep I've had in months, and productivity I haven't had in over a year.

Here are my reflections from this space:

  1. 90% of what's online is a load of poo designed to incite nervous system disregulation to manipulate you into buying, selling, or changing what you do.

  2. You can't beat nature: The wisdom of nature, the seasons, and the rhythms of my own body are still more valuable and impactful than all the hacks, tips, and Ai online.

  3. Most hacks sacrifice important lessons learned in the phases of becoming. I'm all about automations and optimizations but what resonated most this weekend was how thankful I am for the full creation cycle of birth, growth, maturation, and death and rebirth. Wealth, success, happiness, and purpose are all realized through experiencing the full cycle of creation and when we shortcut the lessons, the end result feels unfulfilling because we lack the lessons it takes to fully appreciate its value.

  4. Being online is not the only way to create a business. I've felt increasingly chained to the virtual world as a way to build my business this year while on the road and, while I'm thankful for the gift of technology, I've seen how I've allowed this platform and its constant demand to be the priority of my precious energy.

Here's what I'm doing instead:

  1. Unfollowing accounts triggering a fight or flight response.

  2. Listening and Leaning (see next post).

  3. Taking 3 days a week off social media.

  4. Seeing life in every phase. Practically this looks like daily gratitudes to appreciate the nuanced details of my precious life.

  5. Pursuing in-person workshops where I will teach, hopefully hosting a retreat here in MT, and other intimate, organic experiences.

  6. Using my energy to create a beautiful home and safe space for restoration.

  7. Painting and other creative expressions.
