The vessel chosen to carry Christ was the womb of a woman.

Growing up in a traditional Christian home I always found it strange that this wasn’t talked about more.
I remember sitting in church listening to the story of Jesus and being so awestruck at the gift of Mary and women.

To this day I feel overwhelmed by the blessing it is to be a woman and my whole heart is for each woman to feel that about themselves, too. There’s simply nothing like it.

As I grew older I saw more and more layers that resonated deeply with me and I’m sure it planted a seed for what I do today to help women reclaim and thrive in their womanhood and restore appreciation of the masculine and feminine dynamic.

This story gives such a beautiful depiction of feminine and masculine. Of women and men and the power in their union.

Mary, the receiver and bearer of life and Truth.

Joseph, the protector and leader. The boundary between the evil of the world and the sacredness of this gift.

Women, we are the only beings on this planet who can usher a new soul into this planet of existence. We are the portal between what isn’t and what will be. We bridge the gap between realms.

We have been given the gift to not only experience life, but to CREATE it. To call it forward.

It’s inherent to you and it’s doesn’t just exist within the context of a child - this creation energy is infused into everything you do. Your relationships, your home, your business, your mission. You can take the ingredients of life and turn it into something magnificent.

And men, you incredible guardians of life. You are just as important. The masculine is the protector and his dominion is the physical realm. Without him we cannot be in the vulnerability it takes to soften and bring forward life.

You’re probably most familiar with this when it takes place on a biological level like when a woman is going into labor and then labor stalls if she feels unsafe (entering into a hospital or an unfamiliar environment, etc.). She will literally close up in order to find safety to bring her child forward.

When she is deeply held and protected, it allows her to soften, to open. She must be fully surrendered and open and this cannot happen if she isn’t protected.

Emotionally, spiritually, physically…we need the safety of the masculine to be in our fullness and depth. And the masculine needs us to navigate the spiritual realm, the unknowns, the depths of creation, in order to carry such precious gifts of life.

Can you imagine the surrender Mary had to say yes to such precious cargo? Can you imagine the responsibility and strength for Joseph? These were not meek and lowly people. They were warriors in their own right. Confident, courageous, and on purpose.

And they were in union- a phenomenal match literally made in heaven. Each fully expressed in their gifts and design for the purpose of bearing the greatest gift ever given.

I hope this season as you reflect on the stories that make up many of our traditions, you think a little differently about the gift it is to be a woman, a bearer of life, a creator by design.

Merry Christmas, my friends.
